Nikon Z7ii I won in Landscape Photographer of the year 2021

Camera and Accessories

Nikon Z 7ii What a camera, what more can I say. My dream camera but never expected to own one due to the price but thankfully I won it as the Landscape Photographer of the Year 2021 along with the 24-70 F2.8 S. It's a great all-round camera, the only downside I have is for astro but the big 48mp sensor doesn't help it also makes editing a bit slower.
Nikon Z 24-70mm f2.8 S I also won this and is unreal with the Z7ii, super sharp and some nice bits like lens LCD screen to show focus, F stop or Focal length. The recent Nikon 24-120 might be worth a change as it's only half the price and offers an extra 50mm on the long end which is very useful for the smaller scenes that I'm getting more and more into. The only downside would be the F4 instead of F2.8 but I'm using this less and less with the star tracker.
Sigma 14-24mm f2.8 Art Super wide angle lens, great for Astro and big scene landscape photography. It doesnt take normal filters so I got the Haida ones (futher down). I use this with the FTZ adapter and works great.
Tamron 100-400mm f4-6 Like the previous Tamron a great telephoto lens at a decent price. It's a bit bulker and heavier than the 70-300 but much better image quality. I got the lens colar separately but went for the non Tamron version which still works great. I also use the FTZ adapter here.
Nikon D750 I started with a beginner Nikon DSLR D3200 and moved on up the ranks with my latest being a great allround full frame camera. It has a good sensor for Astro where high noise is often a problem. I actually got this second hand which is a great way to get a camera above your original budget.
Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 this is my go-to all-round lens, build like a beast and super sharp, I use it for everything from Astro to portraits.
Tamron 100-400mm f4.5-6.3 this is my newest lens, I wanted something a bit longer and sharper than the 70-300 for more wildlife and wave photography
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 a great super-wide lens, not very expensive and great for Astro too, this is actually a crop sensor lens but I still use it for my full-frame, which means I can only use it at 16mm but it takes 100mm filters. This lens has been covered in Sahara sand and dropped into Icelandic rivers and is still going. I now only use it on big hikes as it's a lot lighter than the Sigma with down downside being the corner sharpness isn't great.
Tamron 70-300mm f4.6-6 got this lens a couple of years ago for 300 euro, it's cheap and lightweight and it's fantastic to have the extra reach especially starting off, at this stage, the VR and AF doesn't always work but that's not a problem for landscapes on a tripod, I bring it up the mountains because it's much lighter than the 100-400.
Nikon 50mm f1.4 this is by far my least used lens but in certain situations, the f1.4 is vital, great for low light like catching the lights of a lighthouse sharp or throwing the background out of focus in a portrait.

All the gear I brought travelling for several months

Tripod this is a standard enough tripod but it does the job and doesn't break the bank. I sometimes bring it hiking but on bigger hikes I take the other smaller tripod.
Ball Head I was never happy with the ball head that came with the tripod so I upgraded to this one, its rock solid.
L Bracket is just a cheap L bracket but it fits the camera perfectly and does the job for 20€, have seen others for 100€ that don't fit as well
Travel/Hiking Tripod this was my first tripod so it wasn't the biggest but now I use it as a lighter option, it was ideal for travlling and is also nice for hiking when it needs to be a bit lighter. I don't use the original head for thhis either, I just got a different acra swiss compatable head.
Spare Batteries I have 2 Nikon ones and two of these, I honestly couldn't tell the difference. They down work on Z7ii (only original Nikon ones do).
Nisi Filterholder and Polariser a solid filter holder system that won't break the bank
ND Filter I went for the 6 ND which helps to add a few stops which are needed for adding a few seconds at the sea/waterfalls but it's not strong enough for a really long exposure during the day.
Night Filter This is great for taking away light pollution for star shots, it does a particularly good job when the light pollution is strong.
Graduated ND Filter don't use this as much as I used to as I blend more and more but also it's nice to see a more complete picture on the back of the camera.
Rear Filters for Sigma 14-24 I searched for these for ages as there is very little info online. These work with the Nikon version of the Sigma 14-24 f2.8. I got the ND 4, ND 10 and Night filter. It is very fiddly to put on and off and awkward if its windy/dirty and I already broke one taking it own so not ideal.
Wireless Trigger I always a couple of these in my bag, they great for long exposures when you don't want to touch the camera to move it. They're cheap so it doesn't matter if I lose one or the battery goes. (only for the D750)
Camera strap I was sick of taking the strap off when the camera was on the tripod and putting it back on when strolling around so I got this one and it only takes a few seconds
Lens Cleaning Tissues these are handy for wiping water and grease off the front of the lens, they're not reusable so they're always clean unlike my microfibre cloths.
Lens cleaning wipes if theres smudge or salt these are great
On the go Charger this is handy to charge the camera on the go with a power bank or in the car
SD Card be sure to buy reliable SD cards, all your shots are stored on them. I normally get 32GB cards and charge them regularly so if one did corrupt I wouldn't lose too many pictures.
Accessory Pouch
Big Camera Bag this is a beast of a bag, weatherproof and easily fits all my camera and camping gear when going hiking, also great for weekend trips away, plus it fits as overhead baggage on planes and you can take the camera insert in case then want to check-it in. I have it in bright orange which is great for pictures too.
Small CameraBag I use this one for day trips when I don't need as much space, fits the camera gear, extra jacket, food etc. I have it in black just to be a bit more incognito if needed
GoPro I started off years with the Hero 2 which is still at the bottom of lake Constance somewhere, I moved onto the Hero 3+ and eventually Hero 4 which were all amazing at the time, then my photography really took of and I concentrated more on my DSLR but the Hero 8/9 that are out today are just unbelievable quality.
GoPro Dome This is a cool accessory for getting those 50/50 shots above and below the water with the GoPro.
